The Time Traveler's Wife Movie

This is full of spoilers! actually it is also very spoilerish for non-readers viewers, because I have detailed almost everything, and have revealed lots of things that were left out of the movie...

I finally saw it!!!! friday and monday! (thursday was the openning day in here)

Considering the fact that I was very, very excited about this movie, not because of the movie itself, but for my love of the book I am very happy about the result, so despite the fact that I was very excited about it my hopes weren't high, at all! I was expecting some really lame and cheesy chick flick... but to me it was not.

Actors:
Eric and Rachel delivered a very accurate interpretation of Henry & Clare.

Rachel I was expecting it, she does not dissapoint. You can tell how she grows, how she developes the character, you can feel her dispair lossing her babies and seeing Henry depressing and going, you can feel her joy encountering him in the present. But the surprise to me was Eric, he was a huge surprise! I am not very related to his work, but he did a great job as Henry... to me he did it, he almost was the Henry I have pictured in my mind, looking into his eyes you could almost feel his sorrow, you could see the loss in his eyes! and then I could see the hope beggining to raise, forming and growing inside of him, then going away, you get the idea.

Ron L. did what he could with what he had... you can tell they didnt give him much to work with. But it was a good Gomez.
Jane as Charisse was so plain! I am not saying it was her fault, but she wasn't Clare's friend, she was just Gomez's girlfriend/wife.
Arliss was definetly Richard, he delivered a heartbroken, so very convincing "who would marry you?"
Brooklyn was a so very good little Clare!
And the McCann sisters were very good Alba's! I mean I know they couldnt dye their hair! but I have pictured her as a brunette.

As for the movie, well the beggining felt too rushed... Henry trying to explain himself and the audience that he was a time traveler, then I loved when he meets Clare at the library

and the way they tell us how they meet in the meadow

(it was a great editing job making it fit into the movie timeline). It was a bit slow they not showing us how the relationship developed (present and past) but it was ok and very easy to understand for non-readers. The weddig day was, way too sunny! but it was lovely! young Henry/old Henry man I love him! and the Broken Social Scene cameo!!!! it was perfect! Clare asking Henry if she was a bigamist, was included! (I loved that in the book) and then showing us their married life... Henry's time travels, the lottery scene (Rachel faces were great), what I did not enjoyed was the vasectomy part... they put a fight were it was none! Clare saying Henry that he forced himself into her mind was not nice! I did not liked that! it was rude! and then Clare going to pick Henry up at the parking lot (where he was freezing, but not till the point he got his feet amputated) and they make Alba! Henry time travelling and meeting her! it was very good, a lil, tiny laugh (when we see him naked at that cage) before making us cry! (when Alba tells him he died 5 years ago)... now I get it! they showed it in the trailer... but I wasn't sure! Then seeing Alba growing up and getting to her 5 birthday... I was weeping by this time! seeing Henry in his wheel chair! seeing him setting himself off... he was there just dying! it was so very sad! I just felt it the way the book made me feel! it was awful! not the wailing! but definetly the weeping! it was so fast! so you see Henry dying! teaching Alba how to open locks and then he is there! being shot by he is father-in-law, dying in the hall... Clare mourning her husband... and then the almost happy ending, Alba playing with Max and Rosa in the meadow: Henry time travelling and the kids running to tell Clare that he is back, in the meantime it is emulated their time travelling encounter at the beach, where Henry tells her the story of how he and Clare met... while Clare is running to see him one last time!

I missed Kimmy! and Christmass dinner with the Abshire's and Etta and Nell, and the real Lucille, and Clare mourning her mama, Henry meeting grandma Meagram, Ingrid, Celia, Ben, the real Dr. Kendrick. Hated when Clare tells Henry that he forced himself into a 6 year old mind. I missed seeing old Clare embracing Henry.

I did like it! I have written my review while listening to the soundtrack...

So I am giving it 4 out of 5 stars... cuz I did enjoy it.
Now I'll go and read the book

Sorry it is a huge review! but its my opinion! as a huge fan/lover of the book.
